Sobre Mendavia

Heritage

A typical town of the Ribera de Navarra rises on a river terrace and extends gently around the Parish. The landscape of Mendavia is full of contrasts, on one side the Soto de Magacha by the banks of the Ebro and, on the other, the steppe of the areas further from the river. The Church of San Juan Bautista, its magnificent main altarpiece, and the carving of the Virgin of Legarda, the spectacular hermitage of the Virgin of Legarda by the Ebro, and the village of El Castillar. deserve to be known.

Celebrations

In Mendavia (Tierra Estella) three main celebrations stand out: the Fair of the 11 Denominations of Quality (July), the Patron Saint Festivities in honor of Saint John and Saint Peter (late August), and the Day of the Asparagus of Navarre (mid-May). All combine the rich wine and culinary tradition of the Ribera Estellesa.

Gastronomy

Mendavia, in Tierra Estella, is the municipality with the most quality seals in Spain. Known as the "Land of the Eleven Denominations of Origin", its cuisine stands out for an exceptional garden and traditional recipes such as menestra, lamb al chilindrón, and bacalao ajoarriero.
