Sobre Ayegui

Heritage

In the municipality there are three population centers: the village of Ayegui, the farmhouse and Monastery of Iratxe, and the residential area of chalets and hotel complex of "Irache".

The main attraction lies in the fact that in its municipality, at the foot of the Camino de Santiago, stands one of the most emblematic monasteries of the Jacobean route.

Its splendid Church of Santa María La Real and other monastic dependencies should be known by anyone who approaches Tierra Estella. In the future, the building of the University will host the Ethnological Museum "Julio Caro Baroja".

Furthermore, Ayegui, due to its history, enjoys the charismatic mountain of Tierra Estella, Montejurra, from whose summit one can contemplate unforgettable panoramic views of the Estella merindad.

Celebrations

The patron saint festivities of Ayegui are celebrated on the first weekend of September, with street parties, popular activities, and traditions closely linked to the festive Navarre atmosphere and the Camino de Santiago.

Gastronomy

Ayegui and in general the entire region of Tierra Estella, an area where the municipality is located, is synonymous with gastronomic culture. The fertile lands of the area give rise to quality gastronomic products, as well as renowned and award-winning wines from recognized wineries. All of this combines perfectly with the hands of experienced chefs.
