Sobre Daroca

Heritage

Daroca is one of the most important historical-artistic ensembles in Aragon, protected by a prominent walled enclosure. Its heritage reflects the evolution of medieval art, with valuable Romanesque, Mudejar, and Gothic architectures, the result of its historical relevance and the coexistence of cultures.

Notable is the Church of Santa María, a basilica since 1890, which houses the miracle of the Corporals, the origin of the Corpus Christi festival. Next to it, temples such as San Miguel, San Juan, or Santo Domingo and their museums preserve a unique artistic and heritage ensemble in Aragon.

Celebrations

The Corpus Festivals are the most important celebration of the city, linked to the miracle of the Corporals (1239), which turned Daroca into a prominent center of worship and pilgrimage since the Middle Ages.

At the end of July, the Medieval Fair is celebrated, transforming the city into a large historical stage inspired by the coexistence of the three cultures, with a market, entertainment, and street performances on the Main Street.

The cultural offering is completed with the International Festival of Early Music, which brings together musicians and students from all over the world every summer, and with the Daroca & Prison Film Fest, a social and independent film festival with international projection.

Gastronomy

The gastronomy of Daroca is based on traditional Aragonese cuisine, linked to the products of the field and to recipes of popular origin. Hearty dishes such as migas, lamb stews, roasted meats, and preparations with legumes and vegetables from the area stand out.

In pastry, artisan sweets are highly appreciated, especially those related to religious celebrations and local festivities, which complete a simple, authentic, and very representative gastronomic offer of the territory.
