Sobre Navas del Rey

Heritage

The Church of San Eugenio, of Baroque origin and rebuilt after the Civil War, with valuable religious images; the Hermitage of San Antonio, recently built using traditional techniques; and the Rollo de Villa Real, symbol of the village. The heritage is completed by the ruins of the Castle of Cerrillo de los Moros, the Tower–Ethnographic Museum, elements of rural tradition (blacksmith's horse, mill, fountains, and wells), historic squares, and natural spaces such as La Pinarilla and the Lagoon of the Quarries.

Celebrations

The festive calendar combines religious and popular tradition: Tapa Route and Women's Days in February and March; notable celebrations of Holy Week; the Andalusian fair Navas y Olé in spring and the San Isidro Days in May. In June, Saint Anthony of Padua is celebrated and in summer the Cultural Summer. The feast of the Most Holy Christ of Love takes place in September. The year is completed with All Saints, Saint Eugenio in November and popular traditions such as The Chestnut Festival, the May Festival, The Night of the Quintos and local dances and folklore.

Gastronomy

The Castilian stews and game meats stand out, especially the Madrid stew with chickpeas from the Garbancera Madrileña, accompanied by local wines such as those from Bodegas Cardeña. The tapas and portions in local bars are also recommended, as well as the homemade pastries, with specialties like mantecados and anise cakes.
