Heritage
The heritage of Oropesa stands out for its imposing medieval ensemble, presided over by the Old Castle and the New Castle, integrated into the current Parador. Next to them, the Count's Palace and the walled enclosure with its historic gates reflect the noble past of the town. Unique elements such as The Passage or the Town Clock add character and authenticity to the historic center.
The religious wealth is manifested in temples such as the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Chapel of San Bernardo, or the Convent of the Mercies. Also noteworthy are the Hermitage of Our Lady of Peñitas and the Convent of Observant Franciscans, which showcase the spiritual tradition of the locality.
The civil heritage includes historic buildings such as the Old Town Hall and the Consistorial Houses, as well as the Hospital of San Juan Bautista. In the cultural sphere, spaces such as the Andrés Fernández Arroyo Library, the Old Museum of Ceramics, or the Birthplace of San Alonso de Orozco stand out, preserving the historical and cultural memory of Oropesa.
