Hard About this route
We set off towards Villatuerta along the bike path that connects the two municipalities, and upon reaching Villatuerta, we took the track that leads us southeast. Before 10 km of the route, we turned north to head to the first important point of the route: the cross of Mauriain. From this location, we headed towards the next point, the stronghold of the Princess of Asturias, near the summit of Eskinza. Once here, we took part of the Cañada Real de Tauste-Andía to begin the descent towards Lorca and then, we headed towards Lácar. In these two towns, one of the most important battles of the Third Carlist War took place.
From Lácar, we headed towards Abárzuza and passed by the church of Nuestra Señora de Eguiarte, an ideal place to make a stop. Subsequently, after passing several stretches of road and parcel areas, we arrived in Abárzuza. In this locality, we can also see remnants of the Carlist Wars. From here, we headed towards the village of Zurucuáin, following road and parcel areas, and took the last ascent and descent through the orchards of San Lorenzo until we arrived back at the starting point.
