Hard About this route
This route is designed for mountain bike lovers who want to test their physical condition in a paradisiacal environment.
We will start from the Sports Center of Lanjarón to quickly take the Forestal Path, next to the restaurant "El Frenazo" and the Honey Museum. From there, we will begin a long slope of almost 16 km with few breaks. To start, we will find a first shady area with large trees next to the Barranco del Salado, where we will warm up for one of the highlights of the route, the ascent of "Cortijo Albercón," which has gradients of up to 20%.
At the "Mirador de Pallarin" we will take the only break of the route, with idyllic views of the Lecrín Valley, the Tropical Coast, and the Sierra de Lújar.
We will make a mandatory stop at the Fuente de Pedro Calvo, where the water will help us recover our water reserves, which we will need intact for the rest of the itinerary. We will continue ascending along a wide path until 'Anchurón de Tello', where we will turn right to continue ascending to 1680 meters to end up, after an intense descent, at the Forest House of Tello, where we can enjoy the mountain landscape that surrounds us and refill our bottles again.
From here, the more technical cyclists will have their awaited moment: the route runs along a winding path that will take us to the bridge over the Lanjarón River, where we will see a waterfall of fresh and crystal-clear water. And, again, we will see a small ascending path that leads to the second peak of the day, the Tajo Expósito, where we will take the only flat section of the route, on the path of the Recreational Area Puente Palo, until we descend along the Jaral de Cáñar path and finally arrive at Lanjarón after a long descent of 14.5 km.
This route allows the possibility of making three shorter alternatives or returns, for those who do not want to complete it or feel their strength waning:
- Km. 5: Return via the Mines area.
- Km. 12: Return via the Bordaila area.
- Km. 19: Return via the Chaparra area.
Also, the bravest bikers will have their alternative, being able to take the trails of Enduro Chaparra, at km 27. There is the option to choose between two trails filled with 'rock garden' and countless technical areas that will surely delight the most radical cyclists.
