Easy About this route
This route takes us into the most authentic heart of the Highlands of Soria, a territory of open horizons, centenary juniper groves, and villages that seem frozen in time.
The route is round trip, allowing us to enjoy the landscape without technical pressure and with the tranquility of returning by the same path.
The starting point is located in the surroundings of Castilfrío de la Sierra, a small mountain village that preserves the rural essence of Soria. From here, we take a wide path, traditionally used as a historical communication route between villages.
The surface is generally compact rural track and rolling, with sections of slight slope but without major technical difficulties, making it ideal to calmly enjoy the surroundings (especially suitable for e-bikes).
As soon as we leave, the landscape opens up into large expanses of low mountain and grasslands, dotted with dispersed junipers and oaks.
Here the feeling is clear: spaciousness, silence, and untouched nature.
The path is evident and well-defined. You just need to stay on the main road, avoiding secondary detours that lead to farms or grazing areas.
The route follows the ancient Royal Road, a historical route that connected small populations of the region. As we progress, the imprint of the traditional use of the territory is perceived: stone walls, livestock gates, and wide views towards the mountains.
It is a perfect stretch to maintain a constant rhythm and enjoy pedaling without technical demands.
Being a linear round trip route, the endpoint marks the ideal moment to stop, breathe, and contemplate the landscape before starting the return by the same itinerary.
The return allows us to rediscover the surroundings with a different perspective of light and relief.
