Moderate About this route
Easy and family-friendly route designed for a pleasant walk from the town of Gallocanta to the village of Berrueco, enjoying the project “nature canvases” in both locations. The route starts from the visitor center in Gallocanta, following comfortable paths parallel to the edge of the nature reserve until we encounter a slight ascent that will take us through holm oaks and cereal fields to the beautiful village of Berrueco. There, after strolling through its streets and enjoying the murals, we will return on a comfortable descent to the site known as “Fuente de los haces,” where we can regain our strength in the shade of its trees. From here, and returning towards Gallocanta, we will enjoy the panoramic views that the route offers, always close to the Gallocanta Lagoon.
Aspects to consider: the lagoon is an endorheic wetland that is fed by the streams and ravines that drain into it. Some of the paths pass through flood-prone areas, so special attention should be paid to the condition of these areas after episodes of heavy rain.
Types of paths:
- Trail: 24.2 km
- Road: 1.65 km
- Street: 1.56 km
- Other routes: 519 m
