Heritage
Belmonte is a historical treasure full of exceptional monuments. Its Belmonte Castle, built in the 15th century by order of Juan Pacheco, first Marquis of Villena, is one of the best preserved medieval fortresses in Spain. This structure, which mixes Gothic and Renaissance architecture, has become a tourist reference and the scene of medieval combat events of international character. Also noteworthy is the Colegiata de San Bartolomé, a 15th-century church in Gothic style with Renaissance touches, which houses chapels, altarpieces and sculptures of great value, including works attributed to Alonso Berruguete, making it an essential place for lovers of sacred art. Belmonte also has a group of Noble Houses and Palaces, such as the Palacio de los Molinos and the Casa de los Melgarejo, in the Plaza del Pilar, which show the historical splendor of the local nobility. The Medieval Wall, although partially preserved, allows a walk through what was once the defense of the town, highlighting the Chinchilla gate, which is in good condition.

The cultural life of Belmonte is influenced by its rich medieval history and relationship with illustrious characters. The town is known for its medieval combat re-enactment, which attracts competitors from all over the world to the castle. In addition, Belmonte offers literary routes inspired by the life of Juana la Beltraneja and other historical characters associated with the town, which connect the past with literature. As for its cultural spaces, the castle and other places of interest house temporary and permanent exhibitions on the history of Castilla-La Mancha and the medieval period, consolidating Belmonte as a cultural reference point in the region.
Gastronomy
The gastronomy of Belmonte stands out for being authentically Manchegan, using local products and traditional recipes. Among the typical dishes are gachas manchegas and atascaburras, made with almorta flour and cod, ideal for cold days. Other emblematic dishes are pisto manchego and zarajos, made with garden produce and lamb meat, respectively. Belmonte is also famous for its Manchego cheese with Denomination of Origin La Mancha and its wines, which are part of the wine heritage of Castilla-La Mancha and complete the culinary experience of the town.
Festivities
Belmonte's festivities are a combination of religious traditions and cultural celebrations. The Festivities in Honor of the Virgin of Grace, held in August, are the most important and bring together the community in processions, recreational activities and concerts. During Holy Week, Belmonte experiences solemn processions through the old town, highlighting the Good Friday procession. In addition, the International Medieval Combat Tournament, held in the castle, is a unique event that attracts thousands of visitors each year, who enjoy the recreation of combat and the medieval atmosphere that surrounds this charming village.
