Oliana

Oliana preserves a remarkable medieval heritage, with an old town that climbs the hill where the walled village was located, of which sections of the wall and ancient gates are still preserved. The church of Sant Andreu de la Vila stands out, a symbol of the municipality, alongside historic streets, viewpoint squares, and traditional fountains.

In the surroundings, the Castle of Oliana and the Romanesque church of Sant Andreu del Castell stand out, the unique Ice Well and several medieval hermitages scattered throughout the territory. Completing the heritage ensemble is the Castle of Castell-Llebre and the Oliana reservoir, which shape a historical and natural landscape of great value.

Oliana celebrates various popular and religious festivals throughout the year that are part of its cultural identity. The Fiesta Mayor de Oliana in summer, the celebrations of Sant Marc, and the traditional pilgrimages stand out, as well as the festivals linked to the religious calendar. Popular gatherings and cultural events that bring together locals and visitors around local traditions also have special significance.

The cuisine of Oliana reflects the agricultural and livestock tradition of its surroundings, with local products that are integrated into simple yet tasty recipes. In the village, we find family and artisanal initiatives that have managed to maintain the authentic character of the local gastronomy.

One of the most outstanding products is the artisan goat cheese from the L’Oliva cheese factory, made with raw milk from its own herd. This cheese is the result of a young project rooted in the territory, which has restored a farmhouse to produce quality food.
